I have been teaching a drug education
course in the jails and rehab centers in North Alabama for many years. I teach for 1 hour about the biochemistry and physiology of
drug addiction, and then I teach for another hour about the grace and
mercy of Jesus Christ to heal the addict from the inside out.
We cover brain anatomy and physiology taught at a 9th grade level.
We discuss alcohol, marijuana, inhalants, hallucinogens, GHB, ecstasy,
cocaine, and methamphetamine. We look at which parts of the brain are
affected, and how the chemicals work.
Then we talk about recovery. I start with a frank discussion of the
spiritual nature of drug addiction, the nature of idolatry, the worship
of the high, and the pursuit of pleasure. We discuss the true nature

If you have a loved one who is incarcerated, you can arrange for a Power Over Addiction Workbook to be sent to him or her directly from Mothers Against Methamphetamine. Workbooks include a 4 page review test that can be completed and returned to Mothers for scoring. Participating inmates recieve a certificate of completion that can be added to their file or presented to a judge as a reflection of character and personal effort in overcoming addiction.
